If you can't throw your fears away, give them to me.

Widowed, pregnant, and mourning his kidnapped son, the last thing omega hawk Benjamin wants right now is a serious relationship. So he seeks comfort in the arms of the one man he doesn't have to worry about falling in love with him.

Growing up rejected by the people who love him, it doesn't surprise alpha mountain lion Kurt that Ben doesn't see him as potential mate material, but he's content to give whatever Ben will take, even if it's just sex, and love on Ben's little boy.

When Kurt is injured saving Ben's life, Ben realizes how isolated he'd made himself, and how much he'd come to care for Kurt without even realizing it. But before their relationship can settle, they have to find the man who killed Ben's mate, kidnapped his oldest son, and set fire to their house. But their enemy is more dangerous than they realized, and the lives of everyone they love are at risk.

Book Cover

  • Overused stock photos^

  • Read all at once (normal)

  • The development of the story arc is just as important as Benjamin's story
  • That Curtis is very much a to-the-point kind of guy
  • The prank they played on Ryan was pretty funny
  • That the Artreans help them to get the kids back

Character Depth

  • Hip deep^^^

Mood Upon Completion

  • Happy

  • Could use a better editor^^

Sex Scenes

  • Decently hot
  • Decently sweet

  • It seemed rather sudden that Benjamin had sex with Kurt while depressed, and right after finding out he was pregnant
  • It's sad that Ryan is against Casper being a seer due to his family issues
  • That Benjamin is a hawk shifter but can't fly
  • That Nevin's son can't talk anymore due to the mutism thing (it just sucks for him)

Emotional Depth

  • Weakly emotional

Content Warnings

  • Character Death (minor, multiple, past and present)
  • Abuse (physical/emotional, main, one, past)

^ Similar to the rest in the series but the blending is better

^^ Careless mistakes

^^^ They could have gone more into depth with Kurt

Contains knotting and mentions of kidnapping
