Book Cover

  • Well-done

  • Read all at once (normal)

  • For a 16-year-old, Ethan is really astute; I hate when authors oversimplify teenage characters via naïveté
  • That Ethan gives Jason a different take on what being gay really means, and he does this throughout the book
  • Ethan's parents are really awesome and supportive people; although scared for him, they still want him to be himself
  • That Ethan has standards for his first time, instead of just wanting to get it over with like we see so much in real life
  • It's unusual to see a long-distance relationship with teenagers have any staying power, so kudos to the author for showing them it's possible

Character Depth

  • Hip deep

Mood Upon Completion

  • Happy
  • Surprised**

  • Very few/no typos

Sex Scenes

  • Decently sweet*

  • Jason's dad wouldn't let him just be a normal kid, and seems to actually ENJOY exploiting him for free labor to save money - it's a bit uber-villain-y

Emotional Depth

  • Weakly emotional

Content Warnings

  • None

*Sex scenes are non-explicit, which is another way to do YA books. Never really considered it an option before.

**Only because I didn’t expect them to last so long without some ‘big misunderstanding’ teenage angst bullshit
